Flock
An idea I had way before AI: pair people up by interests, help them find their flock post-college. I couldn't build it then. Maybe later.
After college I noticed something: the structure that made it easy to make friends — same dorm, same classes, same schedule — disappeared. I was looking for something to replace it, and Flock was my attempt to build it.
The idea: you put in your interests, an algorithm pairs you with random people who share them, and you build a small flock of recurring connections. Pre-AI, this was hard. I was a decent frontend engineer at the time but the matching layer was beyond what I could ship on my own.
I built pieces — nest, the early backend, a Flutter prototype — but never the whole thing. Then AI happened, and the next attempts I made were all AI-shaped. Flock is on the shelf.
(Note: flockk is also the name of my GitHub org from those years. The org and the idea share a name; not everything inside the org is the same product.)
