embedai
AI chatbots for any website, plus transcription and meeting recordings. My first real attempt at a SaaS. Beautiful product, zero customers.
For most of 2024 and into 2025, embedai was the thing. It was supposed to be my first SaaS — a one-and-done win. The product was good: AI chatbots that lived in the bottom corner of any site, plus transcription, plus meeting recordings. I worked on it for almost a year with Samuel.
We never got a single paying customer.
The technical part was fun and the product genuinely worked. The marketing part — the part where you put a thing in front of strangers and convince them to pay for it — I had no idea how to do. We just kept building. More features. Cleaner code. Quieter inbox.
Eventually we let the .co domain go. The Firebase deployment is still up at embedai-91f62.web.app if you want to see what we built. embedai itself is dead, and that’s okay. It was the most expensive lesson I’ve ever paid for, and it’s the reason every project after this one has the question who is the customer sitting at the front instead of the back.
